Consul General Wang Shuying Attended Nanjing Little Red Flower Art Troupe Performance in NI

On 1st March, "Happy Chinese New Year" performance by Nanjing Little Red Flower Art Troupe was held in Belfast Waterfront Theater. Consul General Wang Shuying and Director General from NI Executive Office Andrew McCormick attended and delivered remarks respectively for the New Year celebration. The Art Troupe was sent by Ministry of Culture of China and hosted by Confucius Institute at Ulster University. About 400 audiences watched the performance including representatives of NI government, mayors and deputy mayors, students and parents and other guests.

   

In her speech, Wang Shuying warmly welcomed the Art Troupe to re-visit Belfast since 2014 and extended best wishes for Chinese New Year. She spoke highly of new breakthrough in the development of China-NI and China-UK relations, in particular the third China-UK Regional Leaders Summit last December in NI and the successful official visit to China by Prime Minister May at the beginning of this year. She emphasized that our two countries agreed to build China-UK "Golden Era" 2.0 this year and China-NI friendly cooperation is facing with historic opportunities. We look forward to opening a new era of China-NI people to people friendship and win-win cooperation in new year, adding more glories and fruits to China-UK "Golden Era" 2.0.

   

During the visit, the art troupe was invited to call on the Chinese Consulate General, to perform in NI Parliament building as well as to attended lighting ceremony of "China-EU Tourism Year" in Belfast City Hall. Their excellent performances showcased colorful Chinese culture and energizing spirit of Chinese teenagers, being highly praised by local audiences.
