Consul General Wang Shuying Met With Acting Vice-Chancellor of Queen's University Belfast

On 6th February, Consul General Madame Wang Shuying met with the acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor James McElnay at Queen's University Belfast (QUB) .

McElnay expressed thanks for the valuable support from the Chinese Consulate General and outlined the new progress of exchanges and cooperation with China. He particularly mentioned that the Joint College founded by China Medical University (CMU) and QUB would see its first group of graduates in 2018. With support of the Chinese Consulate General, the UK-China University Consortium on Engineering Education and Research (UCEER), which was founded by QUB and other 5 UK universities together with 9 Chinese universities, has been lifted to the China-UK High Level People-to-People Dialogue last year. More Chinese students and scholars come to study or work in NI, QUB is willing to further strengthen the friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation with Chinese universities and research institutes.

Madame Wang Shuying appreciated Professor McEnell's positive efforts to promoting education cooperation with China and expected the UCEER to achieve more practical achievements so that it would provide strong support to industrial innovation, transformation and upgrading in both China and UK.

Both also shared views on QUB's cooperation with China Customs Museum as well as the programme of Chinese Government Scholarship.
